Staying safe around swarms and nests

Step by Step

If bees swarm nearby, move away calmly and do not swat at them, as this can provoke more stings. If attacked by many bees, move quickly away to a building or vehicle and cover the face and head where possible. Do not jump into water, as bees may wait for you to surface. If a nest is on your property, use a professional pest controller or beekeeper rather than disturbing it yourself. Remove stings as soon as possible. Call emergency services for anyone with signs of a severe allergic reaction, or who has been stung many times or feels unwell, since a large number of stings can be dangerous even without allergy.
